She was a designer, singer and performer who broke through the barriers of the world of music. She was at once contemporary and traditional, a Mexican American who brought two worlds together in a distinctive method. Her name was rising but her sudden death broke it. And as is common for a gifted, charming and young artist dies too soon and is buried, many mourned the greatness that she could not yet attain. Fans have struggled over the years in order to keep her legacy alive. Her tragic murder by a shooter triggered an outpouring of emotion in Latino communities, similar with the reaction to the deaths of Elvis Presley as well as John Lennon's. Selena's music, the singer who was wildly success throughout Latino Communities across North America touched people young as well as old. Selena has been called by certain people as an Latina Madonna, but she's still a fantastic role model. Selena's family values off stage as well as her involvement with AIDS awareness campaigns provide a great example.
